Charming Flat in Lively Location
|Address||Rua das Gaivotas, 2715-311 Lisboa Lisboa, Portugal|
|Response time||A few hours|
The kitchen besides being typically decorated with Portuguese tiles is equipped with all the equipment you need to feel at home. The bathroom is also decorated with the typical Portuguese tiles, is spacious and comfortable and equipped with towels (face and body) and hair dryer. This apartment is also equipped with Wi-Fi Internet.
The apartment is in a typical Portuguese street, between lively Bairro Alto and Lapa/Estrela in the neighborhood of São Bento. The Grand São Bento Palace it’s so pretty that even the Prime Minister lives next door! Also enjoy the "Estrela Basilica" or the botanical gardens just at front.
There is a supermarket, plus several restaurants and bars within a 5-minute walk. São Bento is less than 15 minutes walking distance from Cais do Sodré Train Station. The Metro there provides access to central Lisbon in 10 minutes. Lisbon International Airport is 8 km away.
If you walk 5 minutes you're ub "Bairro Alto", known as one of the most attractive and picturesque areas of the Lisbon’s city center. At night, this 17th century colorful district is transformed into the city's vibrant nightlife quarter. The main streets and narrow passageways are bustling with activity of dozens of excellent traditional restaurants, «fado singing houses», cafés, and a multitude of sleek clubs and bars that stay open until late. In recent years, «Bairro Alto» is also an alternative shopping destination, for those looking for trendy design shops, art galleries and bookshops.
There are several buses and trams, and subway, 5 minutes away, although one can easily walk to the main points of the city.Two minutes walking is the heart of the glamorous and cosmopolitan city can still be felt in the Chiado, a place where the "new" and "old" live in harmony. Characterized by casual-chic atmosphere, with streets full of shops, fine restaurants, beautiful cobblestone, beautiful churches and timeless cafes, Chiado makes any visitor feel real Lisbon.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Was open in 1905 and it´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the sidewalk you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any "lisboeta" will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has. But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.

Very charming apartment in a good and quiet location, everything exactly as described. We liked awarded the family of 4, so we would not hesitate to book again.
The Apartment is prefectly located, clean and has everything you Need. Filipe and his Team Are very friendly and helpfull. He also allowed us to Check out two Hours later, which was very kind. I highly recommend the Stay there.
It was a very nice landlord and the accommodation was spacious and well respected judge.
I hope i see you soon.
We spent some days in the studio and really enjoyed the nice view of the kitchen-window. It is no worth cooking in the apartment as going out for lunch is really cheap and the kitchen is just equipped to prepare a quick sandwich or pasta, not a hole meal. Clean bathroom and rooms, only the bed is, in my opinion, very uncomfortable and not like written "getting out of the bed will be difficult" in a positive sense. Communication with the host was very easy, friendly and cooperative!!
For the last days we had to move to another apartment as they started with some demolition works next door. But this may occur at any place and WIMDU really did a good job to solve this problem. Thanks a lot for this!
We felt like beeing at home with our two children (14, 15) in Graca flat. It was nice, clean, all functioning kitchen and bathroom, good view from 4.th floor and little balcony with river view in large distant but real lisboa atmosphere, we can recommend it to other familys, also for 6 persons. Internet was little bit slow and in tv there were some english channels. The communication with housekeeper was great!! We would come again!
Nice apartment and very friendly and helpful hosts. Only we were missing a wardrobe or some shelfs to store our cloths. The area was perfect to start exploring Lisbon. At night a bit loud.
nice location, everything was fine. thanks to some frensh party people was noisy that days. bathroom is very small and on suite!! was clean but somehow very used. maybe you like to bring your own pillow.
It is a spacious, clean and well located (short walk to Bairro Alto, Viewpoint, Rossio, etc.) ikea flat. Marisa estimated our arrival time pretty right, so the check-in went smoothly and on top we got a lot of good advice what to do, see and how to get around! :) If you plan on cooking in the flat you might bring your own salt and pepper from home, if you don't want to buy it. All the kitchen supplies are available but there is nothing like salt, tea or coffee.
The bed is comfortable. Not sure about the couch, if you are more than tweo people, but it will work for a few days I guess. If you have a light sleep you better bring earplugs (it's a quiet neighbourhood and not loud at all, but if there's noise outside you can hear it).
I can definitely recommend the flat as homebase for a short trip to Lisbon and the Short Stay Flat team and service is wonderful! :)
